Ariel Lanyi (piano)

"Like other exceptionally talented youngsters, 14-year-old Ariel Lanyi is a mixture of the characteristics one would expect from his age group, and some astonishing signs of maturity." – The Jerusalem Post

Born 1997 in Jerusalem, Ariel Lanyi has been playing the piano since the age of four. He has performed in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami, and been the subject of documentaries around the world, including ITV's Superhuman: Genius. Ariel made his first orchestral appearance at age seven and has since performed as a soloist with string ensembles and orchestras across Israel. He is currently a student at the Conservatory of the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he studies piano, violin, conducting and composition. Ariel plays violin in the Conservatory's orchestra and participates in several chamber ensembles, both as pianist and violinist.

He also plays jazz and has participated in educational schemes under the mentorship of US saxophone legend Jean Toussaint and Irish drummer/producer and LYTE Records owner David Lyttle, who offered to release Ariel's debut classical album after meeting him in Ireland. Romantic Profiles features Romantic works by Schumann, Liszt, Brahms and Janáček, and introduces Ariel to a worldwide classical audience whilst documenting his first professional steps. In June 2012, the Jerusalem Post published Ariel's first cover story, titled 'Gifted Yet Focused', which profiled 'Romantic Profiles' and the Israeli launch at the Felicja Blumental Centre in Tel Aviv.
